2020 OGL and Befriender Application

Instructions to applicants:

  1. Failure to complete any required segment will render the application void.
  2. Submit this online form by Wednesday, 31st July 2019, 1800h

  5. If your application is successful, you will be required to attend all compulsory Orientation preparatory training sessions and all sub-committee related sessions. You may be disqualified as an OGL should you fail to attend these training sessions.
  6. All OGLs will be befrienders. Befrienders do not have to be OGLs. 
  7. Note that you may not be allocated your preferred sub-committee. You are still expected to contribute effectively in your allocated sub-committee. Otherwise, you may be removed as an OGL.

The conditions for the selection process will be based on but not limited to the following criteria:

  1. Quality of responses on this form
  2. Feedback from your teachers
  3. Academic performance (Year 5 Grades)

Shortlisted applicants will be informed of the results via school email latest by Term 3 Week 9

The announcement of the final confirmation for all shortlisted applicants will be after the release of the Year 5 Promotional Examinations results.

  • Dance: If an OGLing is uncomfortable with dancing, what would you do to encourage him/her to participate more actively?
  • Highlights: The War Games sub-committee IC informed you that the game will not fit into the main storyline of Orientation 2020. What would you do?
  • PLogs: If there was a discrepancy in terms of food (e.g. food delivered is not what has been ordered), how would you deal with it?
  • Station Games: Imagine that in the first 30 mins of the game, you receive feedback that the games are boring and unengaging. How would you respond? 
  • War Games: Some OGLings are seen to be breaking the rules of the war game. Upon speaking to them, they point out that the others are also doing the same. How would you handle the situation?

7. As an OGL, you are required to commit to ALL orientation preparatory sessions as well as the WHOLE duration of orientation. Kindly seek the approval of your CCA teacher(s) and inform them of this expectation.
